Music is an incredible source of entertainment and has the ability to inspire the body, mind and soul. There are different forms of music and live music is popular across the globe. There is nothing like witnessing a live performance by your favorite solo artist or a group in a live music platform or at an entertainment center. Live music is enjoyable and a source of entertainment to people of different age groups, and offers a chance for people of different age groups to share their passions with other. Moreover discovering new music and personally witnessing great performances can be quite engaging, especially when you are a member of an audience in a large venue. Particular venues really set the tone for a music performance; from concert hall to pool hall, great concerts have to have a venue to hold the events.

Live concerts and live music both offer unique entertainment experiences as no two concerts are ever the same. Each show is performed in a way that allows an audience to experience a one on one connection with a performing artist. Many fans will pay huge amounts of cash in order to attend a live gig locally from their favorite artist, or travel thousands of miles to see them perform internationally. Additionally, music that is performed live at special events or venues can make lasting impressions in the minds of audiences as well as the performing artists involved. At the end of the day, the message in harmony and lyrics are passed more efficiently to the audience building a stronger bond between the artist and their audience.

There is more joy and emotion when listening to live music and attending live music events. Live concerts often incorporate a wide range of visual effects and lighting systems which enhance the excitement of an artist performing. It is also an entertaining activity in the sense that many artists who perform live engage audiences in singing and dancing as they perform. It is entertaining to audiences of all ages because a live performance offers so much excitement which attracts kids, teens and adults alike.

Live music is an art on its own. Art involves a lot of creativity and as an artist performs; his or her audience can feel the passion during the entire performance. Therefore, apart from the fact that an artist entertains and passes across his or her sentiments in the forms of lyrics and harmony, a sense of passion and love for the music is built amongst audience experiencing this show together, witnessing this special night. Often artists will pass through a city only once, only giving their true fans a one night chance to see them.

Live concerts are also highly informative and can be used to pass a specific message to various audiences. During global events such as World Aids Day, Christmas, state holidays and other special occasions, live music and live concerts are used to spread ideas to various audiences and increase awareness of specific causes. What’s more, live music and live concerts have served as historical events as specific concerts occurred during evolutionary times in society. Many thought provoking music concerts can be traced back to 1960′s where many artists engaged in live concerts across different parts of the globe, turning a musical performance into a full on theatrical production. Music fans loved the epic performances and since then, live concerts have become popular across the globe. Most importantly, live performances are beneficial to the community socially and culturally as they help to eliminate differences between people from different social and cultural backgrounds.

For decades, the importance of live music was downplayed over the more conventional sale of records. The music industry itself has been synonymously referred to as the recording industry. With many artistes climbing through the ranks, diversifying genres they made the industry a multi-billion dollar franchise the world over. Since the late 20th century, live concerts have gradually gained momentum, while record sales continued to lose their underlying popularity.

Nothing was scarier than the 25% drop of record sale revenue in the 21st century, which caused a massive rift in the music industry, and ultimately necessitated the need for diversification. Many people loved the music, and copyright law wasn’t quite as strict, so bootleggers shaved most of the money from the market, by proverbially skimming off the top. Many people opted for the cheaper knock-off music as opposed to buying the real thing. This decline was the stimulation for the rise of live music concerts, road shows and the popularization of live music listings, as all means of recovering the lost revenue were sought.

Successful artistes today are essentially brand names. Many consumer product companies are paying top-dollar just to have famous artistes showcase their merchandise on their road shows and live concerts. What the artistes lost in record sales is now being supplemented by increased popularity of live music. It is essentially the next logical step in music evolution, with many artistes traveling all over the world and making millions while at it. A rather interesting survey saw that the bulk of music lovers would rather pay to physically see their music icon, as opposed to spending 10 times less to buy the musician’s album!

The World Wide Web has its benefits, no doubt, but it is single handedly collapsing the recording industry. It hasn’t actually happened, not definitively, but the influx of free online music sites has led to a serious decline in overall revenue. Luckily for the artistes and their promoters, the live music scene has grown just as rapidly. The live music scene notably saved the music industry based on it’s rare ability to link industries. These linkages, that traverse borders, allow musicians to merge expertise with other professionals and hence create mutually beneficial relationships. The web has also helped to increase the exposure of groups to an international audience they may never have reached otherwise.

Gone are the days of lip singing in live performances. The entertainment value of live concerts far supersedes that of the conventional record, and allows you to be up close and personal with your favorite artiste. This fact alone has increased the live music popularity half a dozen times over the past decade alone. It sees millions of people traveling all over the globe just to see musicians they view as gods!! Record, Promotion and even product companies are putting more and more investments on road shows, setting up more comprehensive websites with detailed live music listings. Finally, many musicians are still limiting their potential by downplaying the value of having live concerts. Take it from a fan, nothing boosts your ratings like a successful live performance.

The Daytona Rally is now in progress. For the first time ever I am working on Main Street, the heart of the Daytona Bikeweek Events.

I am working this rally mixing sound at the Full Moon Saloon. It was interesting to note last evening, as I headed in to work, that I would be in the Full Moon for a full moon. My calendar did not tell me the exact date, but last nights moon in a clear sky was very close to full. I have been working the rally since Friday evening, so it is fairly certain that the two coincide.

The traffic patterns get strange for the rally, so I will need to figure out the best route to get into work. The was no left turn onto the side street that I need to get to my work site last evening, and it will be that way through the rally. I will try a slightly different route this evening.

Saturday evening saw the biggest crowd of the rally to date. I am sure that this will be equaled or surpassed later in the week, but the club was elbow to elbow for most of the night. There is a band starting at 8:30 PM every evening for the rally. The full moon is one of three stages in the Doan Management complex. There are some things going on in the afternoon as well. I am only involved with the evening bands.

If you are in town for the rally be sure to stop by the Full Moon and say hello. I’ll be the tall guy walking around with a NetBook computer mixing the sound by remote control thanks to the SAC mixing solution that I use.
