Veterans Day commemorates the fallen and current soldiers who served in the United States Armed Forces dating back to 1918. Veterans Day party is a great way to honor those who served and currently do so. Throwing a party in a veterans honor is a great way to show appreciation and thanks for helping shape the United States into the country it is today.

Bean Bag Toss. A bucket or container and some bean bags are all that are needed for this fun traditional family favorite game. For Veterans Day Party Supplies, decorate the buckets with Untied States Armed Forces by painting the buckets in the various military factions – Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, and Coast Guard. Every player gets to throw a bean bag a certain amount of times in order to land it into the bucket. The player who can make the most throws is declared the winner. With all party games, offer party favors such as military patches, t-shirts, and other military related items.

Capture The Flag. When playing Flag Capture, you’ll need a great group of people in an open field or area. The object of the game is to capture the opposing teams flag. Spilt the party guests into teams of two. The flags should be spaced as far apart as possible with one teammate guarding the flag while the others search for the opposing teams flag. If one team captured the flag they must then run the flag to the center of the party area and place it in a circle (marked off with tape) and that team is declared the winner.

Land Mines. Cups filled with water or filled water balloons are all that is needed for this fun game. The object of this game is to navigate the mine field as to not step on or kick over the water cups. Every player who must navigate the minefield is blindfolded and is guided where to step with the aid of his or her teammates.

Coloring Printouts. For the younger kids at the party, a coloring game filled with patriotic images to color is lots of fun and educational, too.

Get ready for a great Veterans Day Party when choosing Veterans Day party supplies and invitations, as well as great party games for all of your guests.

One of top vacation spots in Vermont is the Lake Champlain. It is where the mysterious legendary sea creature named “Champ” lives which a lot of people would love to keep an eye on. It offers a natural freshwater wherein you will be able to do different kinds of activities. It would be a great spot for a big break and relaxation. You can plan your activity and identify the places where you can possibly stay.

If you plan to camp around the lake and stay a little longer, you can choose between using a tent, staying around the rooms for rent and drive your recreational vehicle. RVs are considered to be very convenient places for traveling and camping because it is just like staying inside your house. When using one, you must not only think of your safety by bringing a tazer gun, but you must also think of the possible areas where you can park conveniently and have access to different services that you need.

One of the RV campgrounds where you can stay especially in this specific lake in Vermont is on the 10 Acres Campground and RV Park. It is a family-oriented site because of the different amenities that they can offer. You can try fishing in the lake while letting your kids have a good start at the fishing ponds. For your vehicle, you will be able to hook up with their water and electric supply and their sewers as well.

The Grand Isle State Park is another popular choice by many tourists. It is a wide area that accommodates RVs, trailers, tent campers and also those who want to stay on their rooms. In order to avail such services, you must get a pass from their entrance which is an electronic security gate. You can play volleyball inside, swim, boat and fish in the lake. There are even games that you can join and interpretative programs you can witness.

Lastly, you can also stay in the Lone Pine Campsites. There are around 265 RV sites and you will surely have a space for your own vehicle. The good thing about this place is that you have an access to the internet. You can quickly check your mail if you want to. There are free rides for the children and of course you have all the time that you want to have a dip on the lake and do different water activities.

When going to such trips using your recreational vehicle, you must remember to pack along your pepper spray gun for more safety. Make sure that you have all the things that you need inside. It must include your stack of food, clothes and gears that you will need. Moreover, you must make sure that your vehicle is in good condition for a long trip. Pay all the necessary fees for parking within the site that you chose.

These are the possible choices that you can have for RV campgrounds along the amazing Lake Champlain in Vermont. You must be able to choose the one which you believe has the services that will be best not only for you but for your companions as well.

A topic that will unite athletes and fans of all sports is that of shoes. Of course there may be some discussion in terms of which brands are better than others, but some generally accepted guidelines are that no matter what type of shoes you are wearing, you have to make sure that they are designed for your sport and that they fit. This is especially true for more extreme activities such as skiing. For some sports like basketball your regular shoe size will usually be more than enough to determine your basketball shoe size. Not the case for determining your size of ski boot.

- What Kind of Skiing Are Your Doing?

It is important to first and foremost figure out what kind of skiing you intend to be doing. The boots may vary according to the type of skiing you do, but also based on the amount of skill that you have currently. If for example you are looking into alpine skiing and you are very advanced and looking at more complex courses, the boot you need will be different from that of an absolute beginner. Once you have figured out what kind of boot you are getting, the rest becomes easier. Women’s boots are different from men’s boots, etc.

- Sorting Out The Size

Ski boots are sorted based on the mondopoint system of determining shoe size. That means that all you need to do when looking at a ski boot and its size is figure out how big or small your feet are in regular sizes. At that point all you need to do is add the numbers and the decimal in the mondopoint size you have been given. For example mondo size 27.0 is the two plus the seven plus the zero. Or a size nine. There are ski boot size calculators available free online if you are interested in double checking your answer or would like to know your mondopoint size before going to the store.

- Width and Flex?

Mondopoints aside, two other factors that skiers need to sort out is the question of how wide the boot is as well as how much flexibility you can find within the boot. If you are a very accomplished skier your boots will likely be quite narrow. As counter-intuitive as it sounds since smaller ski boots aren’t comfortable, this is actually a good thing because the smaller boot allows skiers to have greater control than a wider boot. For beginners though getting comfortable is the first key. The same things goes for flexibility. A skier who is using an advanced ski will need to look for stiffer boots whereas beginners should be looking more at boots with more give.

In some respects, having proper boots in skiing is just as important as having the right skis. You need to shop and figure out the size of your ski boot by first being aware of what type of skiing you and knowing what kind of skier you are. The boots are labelled according to the European mondopoint system and sorting out the appropriate size for you is a simple matter of adding all the numbers plus the decimal. The stiffer and narrower your boots are, the more advanced they are supposed to be. As complex as it can seem at first glance, sorting your size of ski boot is a very straightforward process.

Samoa is a new and exciting location for anyone interested in tropical vacations. A bit off the beaten path, it’s the perfect choice for those who are looking for an unusual and exotic vacation. If you’re interested in traveling to places like Fiji or Hawaii, you may also be interested in Samoa as a possible vacation destination.

An island chain located in the South Pacific, Samoa became independent from New Zealand in 1962, and joined the United Nations in 1976. Situated East of the International Date Line, in the Polynesian region of the Pacific Ocean, visitors enjoy year-round temperatures of 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, making this a popular tropical destination, particularly during the Winter months.

The two main islands of Samoa are Upolu and Savai’i; there are also eight smaller islands. The total area of the country is about the size of the state of Rhode Island. Savai’i, the largest of the Samoan islands, has a population of about 42,000 year-round residents. Upolo Island was formed by a massive volcano, and is home to Faleolo International Airport, through which most vacationers fly in and out of the country.

If you’re interested in foreign cultures, you’ll no doubt enjoy touring the Samoan Islands and experiencing some of the native culture. Though Samoa shares much in common with other Polynesian islands, such as the ideology of tiki gods, many visitors have noted that the culture here is one that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Native Samoans are world-famous for their unique style of tattooing. Though somewhat similar to the tattoo art form practiced by the Maori of New Zealand, the patterns of triangles and lines tattooed by Samoans are found only in this culture.

If you’re interested in history or native cultures, you may be interested in checking out the Tia Seu Ancient Mound, also known as the Pulemelei mound. On the eastern side of Savai’i, this stone pyramid is believed to have been constructed nearly a thousand years ago, though much of its construction and use remains shrouded in mystery. Lefaga Village is the largest traditional settlement on the island, and today is home to about 800-900 native Samoans. The movie “Return to Paradise” was filmed here in 1952, and today the area remains a popular destination for tourists hoping to experience authentic Samoan culture.

Samoa offers something for everyone, from the world traveler to the honeymooners to the family with small children. The attractions here include the grave of famous Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson (of Treasure Island and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde fame), an annual International Jazz and Blues festival, a rainforest park, surfing, diving, sports and various historical landmarks. It is also known for having a bit of a Pirates of the Caribbean or Treasure Island atmosphere. The pristine beaches and great snorkeling and diving are some of Samoa’s most famous tourist attractions. In addition to the other great natural features that a visitor can enjoy while in Samoa, you can also enjoy lava caves.

Airsoft guns are air guns that fire plastic projectiles They can be very accurate, and are very similar to the air rifles used in sports like the target shooting competitions at the Olympic games

Airsoft guns are air guns that fire plastic projectiles. They can be very accurate, and are very similar to the air rifles used in sports like the target shooting competitions at the Olympic games. Today you can get airsoft guns that are powered by electric motors and that can shoot continuous streams of BBs with very high velocity. Fire rates of up to 1000 per minute are not unheard of, and velocities reach 450 to 500 feet per second. In other words, these aren’t toys, but air guns capable of making mincemeat of any soda can in range.

Airsoft guns are mostly used recreationally, though some manufacturers make very realistic versions that are used for military and law enforcement training purposes. But for the most part, players participate in field games where military situations are replicated using airsoft rifles.

You can get airsoft sniper rifles that are replicas of actual sniper rifles, and some of them are even bolt-action, so they feel even more like the real thing. Beginners like airsoft pistols because of their small size and the fact that they are usually replicas of real pistols. These have shooting velocities of around 300 to 350 feet per second. They’re pocket-sized and lightweight, and they’re easy to shoot.

Electric powered airsoft guns have electric motors that use rechargeable batteries. The motor moves an internal piston and spring assembly to launch the pellets. You can get them in automatic, semi-automatic, and three-round burst types. Electric powered air guns, also called “automatic electric guns” (AEGs) are the most widely available and most popular of these types of guns.

Motors in AEGs drive a series of gears that reside in a gearbox. The gears compress a piston against a spring, and once the piston is released, the spring pops it forward through the cylinder. This pushes a pellet into the chamber, through the barrel and out through the muzzle. A lot of AEGs are modified on the outside so that they look and feel very real – virtually identical to their real counterparts.

Three popular guns are the FPS:280 WELL Spring Airsoft M16 A3 Rifle, the 380fps Mossberg Spring Pump Action M500 Cruiser Pistol Grip Shotgun, and the 330fps Smith & Wesson M3000 Sawed Off Airshot Shotgun.

The FPS:280 WELL Spring Airsoft M16 A3 Rifle is a 280fps spring-powered air rifle with a range of 154 ft. It weighs just under 3 lbs. and has a magazine capacity of 200 BBs. It comes complete with safety glasses, strap, laser, and flashlight. The 380fps Mossberg Spring Pump Action M500 Cruiser Pistol Grip Shotgun is a spring-powered airsoft gun that has a 209 ft shooting range. This popular style weighs in at just under 4 lbs. and has a magazine capacity of 19 BBs. The 330fps Smith & Wesson M3000 Sawed Off Airshot Shotgun has a shooting range of 182 ft and a magazine that holds 180 BBs.

The popularity of these guns continues to increase in recreational settings. When all the proper safety precautions are followed, airsoft games can be an exciting, physically and mentally demanding sport, and they will no doubt continue to attract new participants.

When you talk about hiking, it does not mean you have to go for something as outlandish or extreme as the Appalachian Trail It can be as simple as taking a walk through a forest or up a hill in your neighborhood's vicinity

When you talk about hiking, it does not mean you have to go for something as outlandish or extreme as the Appalachian Trail. It can be as simple as taking a walk through a forest or up a hill in your neighborhood’s vicinity. For the most part, hiking will cost you nothing to very little and is a great stress reliever. Indeed, the mental and physical benefits you can get from hiking ensure you can live a more fruitful and fulfilled life.

But even though hiking can be fun, there are also a number of precautions and survival tips one must take into consideration to avoid danger and stay safe. Among the more important tips is for one to hike in a group. It is much safer for one to hike in a group especially if it is on a nature trail you are unaccustomed to.

HIKING WITH FRIENDS

The support and motivation obtained from the group will help you in those times when you might think of packing up leaving. Actually, even when you are hiking on trail you are used to, it does not hurt to bring at least one person along as this is a natural deterrent to anyone along the trail that may be lurking with ill intent.

You also must take precautions when hiking up and down a hill. On the ascent, you should loosely lace your boots around your ankles to provide ample room for movement. When going downhill, you need to avoid jamming your toes by placing your heels in the back of the boots and tightly tying your laces around the ankles while leaving them loose at the toes.

Use a hiking stick or trekking pole. These sticks help with balance and stability when going up or down an incline. They also provide an additional support to your legs, reduce the knee pressure and help you support the upper body especially when you embark on a long trek.

CARRY WATER

Always carry your own water. If you are sure there will be water at your destination, carry just slightly more than sufficient water to last until you arrive. Water is of greater importance than food to your survival. Always filter any water you find along the trail and that you are in need of using – unless the water is from a natural spring. If you can fix a long drinking straw to the water bottle so you can drink as you move, the better.

Dress in layers in order to ensure you maintain the proper body temperature with changes in weather. The weather can change drastically when you are out on a long hike and you need to be prepared for all type of weather conditions. Avoid cotton clothing because it holds moisture for long periods. Use polypropylene and other synthetic materials. Make sure you wear dark clothing because they dry faster. Wear light colored clothing if you’re hiking in areas known for their tick infestation.

It’s also important that one watch out for sunstroke when hiking in the hot sun. If you plan on hiking in the summer then you must be aware that the exposure to high temperature can cause excessive fluid loss which may lead to heat exhaustion, or in serious cases even to a heat stroke. Wear a hat that is broad rimmed and that has a strap. It gives better protection from hot wind and direct sunlight.

HIKING BOOTS AND EQUIPMENT

Of all the hiking gear and equipment you need, your hiking boots are probably the most important. Good boots give you traction and support throughout the hike. A good pair of boots need not be overly expensive even though you should not compromise on quality in the name of lower overall cost. It is advisable that you purchase your boots from a dealer who is conversant with the standards required of outdoor wear. Boots vary from lightweight for light hiking to heavy boots that are more durable and support the feet and ankles. The features you need to look out for when buying your hiking boots include water resistance, weight of the boot, the price, the toe groove for crampons, the width of toe box and the gusseted tongue.

Apart from your hiking boots, there are other forms of equipment needed for you hike. If you plan on embarking on a day hike, you will need hiking socks, water purifying tablets (if you are not carrying your own water), a back pack, walking stick, traction devices, rescue beacons, signaling gear, Avalanche probes (if you will be on snow covered, hilly terrain), jackets, binoculars, first aid kit, a compass, sunscreen and food. For an overnight hike, you will require a tent, sleeping bag, camp stoves, rain gear, matches, a Swiss army knife, and a flashlight.

Get a map of the route you plan on taking. If you plan to hike alone or with one another person, notify your family (or a ranger if you are hiking through a park) on the place where you will be and the time you expect to return. That way, someone can come looking for you if you are in trouble or just simply lost.

Wintertime is primetime for snowmobiling, but unless you have a brand new snowmobile, you can’t just go out immediately after the first snow. Maintaining your snowmobile during the off-season and preparing it for the winter season is essential to ensure you stay safe while zipping around in the snow. Read on for important tips on maintaining and preparing your snowmobile for the winter.

Maintaining Your Snowmobile

Once the last snow of the year has melted and you can no longer take your snowmobile out for some fun, it’s time to immediately start your maintenance to make sure it doesn’t suffer any long lasting effects after sitting for several months. Clean your snowmobile of any mud, dirt, salt, dirt or leaves using a sponge and soapy water. The seat can be cleaned with upholstery cleaner. Perform an inspection of the outside, checking for any cracks, deteriorated windshield fasteners, rusty hood latches, peeling decals or nicks and tears in the seat cover.

Decals can usually be re-glued using emblem adhesive, but cracks in the hood will need more extensive repair. If there are extensive tears on the seat cover, repairs may not take; in this situation, completely replacing the seat cover is generally the most efficient way to protect the seat foam before it deteriorates.

Next, check the snowmobile’s track for tears or missing clips and lugs; check the rear suspension and sliders for any extensive wear and tear or damage. Worn sliders and bent or broken suspension parts should all be replaced. Tears in the track are not fixable. If you don’t replace a torn track it will break down and leave you stuck out in the snow.

Check your snowmobile’s skis and runners for wear and tear, worn out areas with holes, scratches, gouges or areas that are bent out of shape. If a runner is still in good shape, but is bent, you can try to straighten it out with a hammer. Otherwise, bent or worn out skis and runners should be replaced with aftermarket or OEM parts.

After your exterior inspection, open the hood and check the drive belt, fan, water belt and fluid levels. Replace worn or damaged drive belts, and ensure that you still have a spare belt. Water pump belts should not be shiny or glazed as this indicates slipping and incorrect tension. If any fluid levels are low, you should determine the reason in order to avoid any problems while riding. Your coolant should be filled to the cold mark, and your snowmobile’s owner’s manual will provide the correct oil level.

Check your throttle and oil cables for damage or fraying. If any cables or lines are not held securely in place you should have missing fasteners replaced. Last but not least, replace any of the mounts or springs that are worn or missing.

Preparing Your Snowmobile for Riding

You performed all of the above maintenance tips before you stored your snowmobile away for the off-season, and now it’s almost time to ride again! Nine months of storage can really dry a snowmobile out, however. So before you trade in your motorcycle accessories for your snowmobile accessories, you need to do some preparation.

Check your owner’s manual for the lubrication points on your snowmobile and lubricate as indicated using a grease gun. If there is any gas left in the tank from last season it will be very poor quality at this point, so drain any remaining gas before adding new gasoline. If necessary, add more coolant, brake fluid, or oil, and check your carburetor to ensure it’s clean. One of the main causes of engine failure in snowmobiles is a dirty carburetor, so if your carb is dirty, clean it.

If you blocked off the exhaust and/or air intake to prevent rodents from nesting in your machine in storage, be sure to remove any cloths or plugs. Recheck all belts, cables and lines, and ensure the sparkplugs are oiled and cleaned.

Your snowmobile can give you a winter full of fun and enjoyment as long as you keep it in prime working order. By following these snowmobile maintenance steps you can ensure your beloved machine is always ready to ride.

Need to escape the pool deck antics of hyper kids, loud music, and colorful passenger spectacles? On today’s cruise ships you have a number of tranquil options that allow you to relax in peace and quiet while on a cruise vacation.

A private retreat just for adults

A number of cruise lines are increasingly catering to passengers seeking tranquility with the introduction of quiet, adults-only areas on their ships. A number of cruise ships have adult-only pools and solariums that are located in a secluded area of the ship. These peaceful spaces can feature a pool surrounded by chaise lounges, umbrellas, bar, and a hot tub or two, with soothing decor. Many passengers who prefer quieter pursuits find these spaces a godsend that offer relaxation to get into vacation mode.

In 2006, Princess Cruises unveiled the Sanctuary on the Crown Princess. Since that time the Sanctuary has come to personify Princess’ essential philosophy of escape coupled with personal service. This private oasis is located in uppermost forward deck of the ship and is covered by white awnings and populated with trees, abundant plush loungers, and massage cabanas. While guests relax, stewards hand out chilled face towels and spritz water from Evian atomizers. For an additional charge, guests can order from a menu of healthy food options such as fruit skewers and lettuce-wrapped spring rolls, use an MP3 player loaded with what Princess calls “relaxation music” or get an alfresco massage in one of the private cabanas. Princess says the Sanctuary has grown in popularity by guests seeking peace and pampering and the area is now being rolled out across the fleet.

Other quiet places

Even party ships offer quiet places to tune out from the onboard crowds. Do You Like To Read? Something that is relaxing can be reading a good book. Your cruise ship will have a well stocked library onboard as well as plenty of quiet places to read. Outside decks away from the pool, indoor conference spaces, card rooms, seats in less-trafficked areas are all great places to find a quiet spot. A great place to start is the outside strolling area known on some ships as the “Lido Deck” or a “Promenade Deck”. Some promenade decks wrap around the entire ship and are great for walking. Additionally many offer deck loungers for reading or napping.

Another great escape area is the spa. Cruise ship spas offer state-of-the-art treatments and relaxation areas. Sit back and relax and get ready to be pampered at sea with a massage, facial, or refresh in steam room, hydrotherapy area, and relaxation area.

Of course the best way to ensure privacy or time alone on a large ship is to book a balcony cabin. A balcony stateroom allows you to enjoy extra space, finer amenities, and breathtaking views. Watch the sunrise, marvel at the beauty of the ocean, and have everything you need at your fingertips. Just sitting outside on your balcony and watching the ocean will relieve stress and take you away. Its clear guests really appreciate the quiet spaces onboard ships that offer a tranquil and peaceful environment for relaxing with a book or just enjoying the magnificent sea view. It’s a great way to enhance a cruise vacation.
