How to be Successful at River Trout Fishing

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

River trout fishing can be highly rewarding and relaxing, when done the right way. But to make the most of your experience, you need to have the right strategy. Here are some tips that can help you in your fishing expedition.

1. If you are a newbie and have never tried river trout fishing, try starting off with a double taper dry line. This type of fly fishing line is ideal for newbies, as the line is slightly stiff and will not get tangled easily.

2. To be successful, you need to pay attention to your back cast. Always cast such that there is enough time for the line to go behind you completely, ensuring that you don’t over cast.

Depending on the weather conditions like the wind, you might have to change your cast type. If the winds are too strong and are affecting your castings, you might want to use roll casting. This is the best way to combat strong winds, during trout fishing. In case of roll casting, you need to tilt the rod away from the body. You then need to raise your hand such that the rod tip is at the 1 o’clock position. Ensure that the line forms an arc behind the rod. Once you have been able to achieve this position, force the rod quickly in the forward and backward direction. Accelerate it to the 9.30 position and then, stop in one quick motion. Every time the rod is forced forward, the line will roll forward and straighten up. If the line is not taut enough, try to apply some force while casting. The idea is to keep the belly of the line behind the rod such that it is not straight and is bent downwards.

3. To change the direction of the cast while fishing, you might want to use a technique called false casting. To achieve this, use combinations of pickup and lay-down, ensuring that the line does not strike the water surface.

4. Irrespective of the type of casting method you plan to use, you need to have a clean fishing line. Dirty lines are not easy to cast and are less effective.

5. Once you have cleaned your line, dress it so that the castings are smooth and the floatability of the line goes up. This will impact your roll casting effectiveness quite a bit.

6. The rod tip must always be along a straight line. So don’t be in a rush during the casting process. Line clutter at the end of the cast must be avoided as far as possible.

7. Release the line only after the rod has reached the 10 o’clock position.

One more important tip is to make sure you wear the right clothing. Make sure you blend in with your surroundings. Trout can recognize differences from their natural environment, so bright unnatural colors may scare the trout and be enough to make them swim away. A good idea here is to stick to blacks, greys, dark greens and even browns, whatever will match you to your environment.

These are the most important river trout fishing tips and techniques that you need to bear in mind. Keep these tips in mind and have a successful trout fishing expedition.

Some Easy Skateboarding Tips

Friday, February 18th, 2011

One of the most frustrating things for any new skateboarder is trying to land new tricks. Learning how to do new tricks takes an extreme amount of courage, patience and most of all, practice. However, too many people get bent out of shape when they can’t land a new trick and do extreme things like bust their board or even give up.

To be a great skateboarder, you will need to travel the same path the rest of us had to at one time. To help you stay on track, here are a few tips that have always helped served me and other talented skateboarders I know.

First you will need to imagine where you want to be and set your focus on those goals. Each time you get to the skate park, keep your goals in mind and don’t allow yourself to be distracted by other cool tricks you see being done.

I know this can be hard, especially when you are working on a new trick and just can’t seem to get it. Sometimes it just seems easier to try something new, but in the end you will be starting right back at square one. So keep your goals in mind and keep working towards them every day.

You also need to put fear out of your mind. You are going to spill not matter how good you get. It is all part of our sport and you need to accept this sport comes with pain, bumps and bruises. Some people like to wear their scars as a badge of honor, but I guarantee you no one likes to be in pain. We all feel it, just those that can overcome the fear and keep getting back up are the ones who become great skateboarders. Those who are afraid and don’t want to pay the price, become posers.

Don’t try to land tricks that are too difficult for your skill level. There is absolutely no shame in working your way up from small tricks to a 360 flip. Not only will you look foolish, but you can get seriously hurt as well.

Remember skateboarding is all about having fun with your friends and expressing yourself. With practice and patience you will soon be the one impressing all the “noobs” at the skate park one day with your sick skills. Until then remember to keep at it, no matter how long it takes!

Do You Really Want A True Mountain Bike?

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

In its truest sense, a mountain bike is a bike built exclusively for riding “off-road”. . . riding trails through the woods or across the desert.

How Does A Mountain Bike Differ From A Street Bike?

Frame – Mountain bikes are built to be durable and maintain functionality under very rugged conditions. To maintain this durability under rugged conditions, mountain bike frames are constructed of much stronger material than the normal street bike frames. True mountain bike frames are titanium.

Ground Clearance – Mountain bikes are also built with a higher ground clearance, making it easier to negotiate rocks, logs, and ruts, etc.

Tires – Mountain bikes generally run with wider, knobby tires providing more substantial grip and traction on varied terrain. Even greater traction and stability is provided by these tires because they carry a lower pressure.

Handlebars – Mountain bike handlebars are generally flat and extend straight out from the stem forming a wider grip, usually about shoulder width. Thus giving the rider an upright posture with greater vision and control of the bike.

Gears – Mountain bikes generally have 16 to 27 gears because of the varied terrain they are called upon to negotiate. However the gear range on mountain bikes is much lower than the gear range on street bikes. Mountain bikes are built for power to negotiate steep climbs.

You Have A Decision To Make…

We have just reviewed the basic features of a pure mountain bike, a bike built solely for trail riding. Generally speaking, a good, durable mountain bike starts at about $600 and goes up from there.

However, for the most part, people are not looking to be a mountain bike enthusiast, they do most of their riding on the street, and only occasionally ride light trails.

If you find yourself in that group, perhaps you need to be looking for a mountain/street bike combination.

Mountain/Street Features…

Each specific bike will have its own blend of mountain to street features.

However, one thing they all have in common is a mountain bike frame. Many of these bikes offer a mountain bike frame built of aluminum. These aluminum frame bikes are lightweight for street use, however the aluminum frame limits their use to light trails only.

These mountain/street combination bikes utilize the mountain bike handlebars, giving the rider an upright position.

Some of these combination bikes offer disc brakes front and rear, steel frames, twist grip shifters, and shock absorbers front and rear.

Tires can also be changed to meet the needs of the rider. Smoother tires for street riding, knobby tires for trail riding.

How To Select The Proper Bike For Your Needs…

How will you be using the bike?

If you will be spending more time on the streets, you’ll want a bike with more street bike features, and visa verse for mountain bike features.

Go to a local bike dealer and test ride, checking out a variety of features. Test ride bikes on each end of the spectrum so you understand the characteristics of certain features. If you can, do more than just ride around the parking lot. Spend a few minutes riding on trails, over rocks, and gravel roads.

Make a conscious effort to check out tire tread performance under various conditions. Determine the blend you need between smooth and knobby.

Check out shifters. There are two major systems on the market 1) Rapid Fire, and 2) Grip Shift. Rapid Fire works from buttons/levers under the brake lever. With one finger or thumb, the rider works up and down the gears. Grip Shift is similar to a motorcycle’s throttle control grip, gears are changed by the twist of a wrist.

Be conscious of the pedals. Note which pedal type feels the most stable and secure to you.

Make sure the seat is comfortable. The seat can always be padded later if it is uncomfortable, however choosing a comfortable seat from the beginning will eliminate future problems.

Relax, have fun making your decision. Discover everything you can about bikes, if possible, test ride.

Safety Tips For Winter Travel

winter scene

snowy road

Winter can be a great time to take a vacation. In fact, between snowbirds, sports enthusiasts and students the roads get pretty busy with people trying to get from one part of the country to another. If you are going to be doing some traveling this winter, consider these tips for staying safe during winter travel.

If you will be driving, get your car checked out. The last thing you want to have happen is to have your car break down and to get stranded in the middle of a snowstorm. Make sure all the fluid levels are at manufacturer’s specifications, inspect the tires for proper inflation and tread depth, and have the battery checked. If it’s been awhile since your last tune up, have that done before you hit the road.

Check out great events for the whole family!

Although most towns work hard to keep the roads clear, it is important that you learn how to drive in snow. You just never know when you might get caught in a storm. Particularly important is knowing how to recover from a skid. If your car is going one way, you want to gently turn in the opposite direction until the car straightens out. Avoid using your brake as this could make the skid worse.

You want to keep a close eye on the weather both on the home front and your destination. For drivers, plan the route you are going to take and use online tools to try to find out as much about the weather conditions as you can. Leave your planned travel route with a friend just in case you do not make it to your destination and a search team must come looking for you.

A travel kit is a must when on the roads. Your travel pack should have a basic first aid kit, a flashlight with extra batteries, a knife, a compass, a tow rope, jumper cables, kitty litter to help aid traction, ice scraper, water, extra blankets, non-perishable food, matches, portable radio and de-icer. These can be put in an emergency bag in the trunk of the car. Make sure you have a car charger for your cell phone in addition to a regular wall charger.

It is important to carry enough food and water with you just in case you get stranded. Your body needs more nourishment in cold weather than it does in summer, so always travel on a full stomach. Take about 6 bottles of water and a days worth of food or assorted healthy snack items in the car with you as they might freeze if stored in the trunk.

You are working harder to get through the snow so take frequent breaks. Try to stop at least once per hour to hour and half so you can stretch your legs and clear your mind. Even a five minute break is enough to refresh you to continue the journey.

Winter travel can be a fun experience as long as you take the proper precautions. Be prepared for the worst but don’t let that detract you from enjoying the journey.

Why Are Online Games More Addictive?

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Most of us surely already have realized that online games are generally what gets people addicted way more often than classical single player games, no matter how cool their story or graphics or playability are. People tend not to play single player games for endless hours, since after some time, artificial intelligence possibilities run out and start repeating themselves, apropous, it eventually results boredom. Or even, in most single player games, there is an aim that you need to do in order to finish the game. You succeed in that endeavor and you finish the game.

Although single player games have started to contain different endings depending on how you reach that goal or which goal you reach, still, as time recedes, and the player keeps playing it, discovering every opportunity every possibility and every course of action, it runs out. Anybody who have played an online game probably have savied that their aim is to depend each player’s goal onto another player so as long as there are different players playing the game people would have different goals. Furthermore, as people that are playing the game changes or increases in quantity, the goals of players, depending on the players that are present also changes and varies endlessly. And what these ever changing goals of players that depend on other players might be? Of course, in general it is to best one another in any part of the game, giving it some appetite as life itself but in way more entertaining scale and environment and events. This, some people considers to be a loser’s job, as they want to win in something imaginary as they loose in something that is real, also known as life itself. But why take this in such discriminative way? People might just be adoring the environment or conditions that the life designed in game offers, maybe they are dreamers, maybe adventurers maybe explorers? We all know that these kind of exotic passions of humanity is at brink of extinction. All the world is explored, shared, a government and law system established so there left little means for people with that kind of ambitions. So, they prefer playing those online games and feeling inside their characters, and it is actually way more effective to do so for online games because there are actually human players around that you usually interact with, which means not artificial intelligence but natural intelligence, right what we see in real world. So, one can try chasing adventures in the game, doing quests, even creating their own quests and doing that all together with also socialisation going on, which deprives them of any boredom, grants relax. So, in online games there are people who count on you to be there when they need something in the game because in most cases, points in it are made to be reached with multiple players rather than one. So, it can be a reason for you to feel obligated to the game because you have in-game friends which count on you. Or maybe, you want to satisfy your ego through besting other players in the game, that can make you feel better from time to time. Or maybe it is easier for you to socialize through the game instead of in real life because of the anonymousity, freedom. Or maybe it can be something that is way different than these but at the end Online games are addictive because they are like real life itself with different concept. And you may love a change, you may love thinking of something else than government taxes or homework or office actions, something that’d relax your mind and make you feel free, feel better.

Therefore, there are over a hundred million people online, that play online games as their weekly routine. Maybe that is supposed to prove that online games are actually addictive in some cases or some people.

Online Games is a Waste of Time!

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Why and why on earth people get addicted to online games, it is so ridiculous! Don’t you think that they actually are all egoists that take pleasure as they beat up others in the games? What happens when you kill someone in somewhere imaginary?! Does it sate your urge of violence? If so, one should go to a psychologist instead of trying to satisfy themselves through these. There are even people who do PAY for these online game madness. They work and earn money in life, they get strained, they get bored and tired. They want to relax and pay what they earned to these games.

Why do you work for if you are going to waste all your money on games which do naught but – and even that is a sad dam – relax you and rip you of strain. This way or the other, they are addictive and our children must be kept away from online games. It is a complete waste of time, waste of will and waste of effort and it doesn’t entertain at all! Have you not seen any children on TV that go mad because of these games? Because, when they fail they actually get troubled and depressed and they want to win? And unlike single player games, the fact that they cannot cheat in online games because there are other players playing it, they are bound to loose, and as they loose they feel worse and worse until a point that this damages their personality? They become humans which do not trust themselves, which isn’t socialized, which doesn’t have a place in society nor aware of that they are going to get role in economy and be mature someday. It is so horrific to see one youngster go into this and loose himself. I myself haven’t seen anybody that played an online game, left, and claim it was good times. All the people thank god that they could make it, and quitting the game was one of the best decisions in life. Doesn’t it seem a lot like some psychological problem we already know? Addiction. Like drug addiction, smoking, money and maybe power, this is a serious addiction too and certainly must be avoided. It is true that you do meet people all around the world and get to know them quite a bit, but it is rather slower than you might do it already in real life by real experiences and also less teaching. A person can go out, join clubs and crowds, talking with people, learning what they are about, and he can help the universe when it is needed, help the people around him, help his city, help his country, help the world. What if you are playing an online game? Well what you will do is quite simple but it is hard if you are past the addiction line. Cancel your subscription, stop paying and wasting your money, get out, go to a pub, get a drink, go sit near someone and start a conversation, and meet them, learn how they live, learn what other people apart from yourself do, what kind of place it is, out there, on your city.

If you are so into this adventure stuff, there are other possibilities. Go jogging, off road could be nice option too, go rafting, surfing. Or if you are into action, there is bungee jumping, being a golf ball stationer. You can invent it yourself, and these are always fun when you do with your friends. Just quit, and see the beautiful world that god has created for us, see it and use it as we are supposed to.

PC-Gaming World, World Of Imagination

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

You! You there! Yes, you get in front of your computer every day, click on the icon of your favorite game and play it. But ever thought how was it made? What sort of godlike imagination required for it to create a new story, new characters and new environment, from NOTHING? Ever saw a computer game as codes? It is nothing but endless logical functions and possibility equations, true, false, and such.

These are what all of computer games do have, but their quality measures how good the game is. Compare it with normal games as we have in life. Football? Basketball? Handball? Pinball? Pool? Until now, people seem not very creative as these are all about doing things with a ball. Shooting it to a gate, throwing it through a circle, hitting it to get it in a pin. It varies a bit more yes, dart, swim fun, tag, roadrunner. But are these enough to entertain a person in 21th century? All with this technology? Sometimes so, yes. But what about computer games? An innocent programmer, sitting in front of his personal computer. Writing none sense, very fast, with his fingers. Then another programmer joins him, then another, and another programmer. An art designer comes in and starts to draw things for the programmers. An author comes in and starts writing for the programmers. A musician comes in and starts writing songs for the programmers. But are these really for programmers? For whom do those programmers work for, with all this cast? Of course, the answer is simple, you. The art designer, musician, author, hands in their work to the programmers. And those men, write them all as functions, inscribe into one small disk, with help of many other cast, such as creative members and effect makers, sounders. They add movement to what the artist draw. They add visual for what author tells. They add the life, to what musician sings. They do their best to add every single reflections and effects as graphics, try to make the story a paradox. Then comes the advertisement officers, they tell the world that what game is created. They tell you about the world. Then comes deliveries and you reach the game. That disk you hold in your hand contains hardworking of a cast at least 10 man, of their months. They have to offer the players something that will really enjoy them, something that would worth their money. Could you do that yo It is easy complaining about bugs and ridicule in games when sitting in front of your computer at your happy place and playing the game. But when writing them you have to check that billion possibility which might create a bug. If you want to help a certain game that you would like it to be bug-free, just go and try their beta. That is what game producers offer for players to improve the game before releasing it. Which is actually also a good way to try out the game before you buy it so it is highly recommended in most communities. And with invention of internet almost all big-scale computer game producers started to create customer / player forums for advices, recommendations or reports of bugs and such. And, now even that they started to recruit programmers that actually been playing lots of computer games in their youth. Since that they are way into this job they can do better in gaming imagination and creativity. just think of those poor first programmers that wrote the very first games. They haven’t played any computer game themselves that they can take after, they had no idea what kind of things it would be and they had no idea what would a player actually look for, in a computer game. But since that nowadays it is an improved industry, it is possible to recruit experienced gamers into the ranks of programmers.

To summarise, writing a computer game is a new world of your own and therefore must be respected first before gaying about the mistakes of it.

Rising Star Of Milennium, Flash Games

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

After the times that programmers started to code games for computers,a huge industry was formed. This industry grew larger with invention of internet, and also it became easier for the consumers to reach the games, which was until then, buying them from stores, turned into download-able programs. After that, a new sensation of necessity arose. The people should be able to play the games, even without downoading the games. This idea was well accepted however couldn’t be applied due to lack of small-sized programming ways. Programmers tried to use java and such languages to write small games, but even those had greater size than it was expected and can be said, required. After that, with the introducion of Flash, which was a vector animation software, this became popular to them.

Flash games, as we all know, are all based on animations and minor reflections. This is because that Flash was released by Adobe to provide a programming language for animations and pop ups that are done during internet surfing. John Hayden Lee, the young programmer of the time, got the idea of making games with this language since vector-animation require such little space that it is not actually something that takes much time for internet users to get on screen and be able to play. Therefore, this opened a new sector in the gaming industry which is online flash games. Many flash gaming sites are established after this, and many various flash games are written. Today, it is maybe the biggest sector of internet since there are over five million flash gaming sites and that much type of flash games. Everyday more and more people start spending time and even money on flash gaming. However, it is not something that all the people only either waste time or money on but some people do actually make money. How, you may ask. Answer is quite simple. They are the ones who make these flash games which people pay for membership to certain websites to be able to play them in their spare time or actually forcedly-wasted time. Like the time you have after you have your lunch in lunchbreak, where you have nothing else to do other than sitting in front of your computer in your office and have to stare at it. Or maybe should i say that for those days which you do not have any work in your office at all?

Well either this or that there are always some people who will not be bothered to download games or actually play any complex games and so prefer the simple flash games that can be accessed everytime, over internet and offers many types of plays. So it might be the best way of earning money for those who make flash games for fun, as their hobby. And with it, we complete the industrial circle. Some men, make some product, some use them, and pay, some pays and some earns money.
