Twelve Important Things My Motorcycle Has Taught Me.

1. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rear view mirror.
2. Four wheels move the body; two wheels move the soul.
3. I’d rather be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about my bike.
4. Life may begin at 30, but it doesn’t get real interesting until about 75 mph.

6. Sometimes it takes a whole tank full of gas before you can think straight.
7. A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
8. Young riders pick a destination and go; old riders pick a direction and go.
9. When you’re riding lead, don’t spit.
10. Catching a yellow jacket in your shirt at 75 mph can double your vocabulary.
11. If you can’t get it going with bungee cords and duct tape, it’s serious.
12. Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Online motorbike games have become a very successful game genre in the online gaming industry. Motorbike racing games, mountain bikes and motocross produce some of the highest search terms for free games to play online.

Motorbike games are custom made to draw the motor bike fanatics and geeks to the controls. If you already have an existing fascination for bikes and also are an established gaming geek, then motorbike games are meant for you. For motorbike game fans, in 2009, there is a game being launched called Ride to Hell. The information regarding this game is still quite sketchy, but from the looks of it, it looks like one of the GTA styled sixty’s biker gang gig. The hardcore, leather strapped biker gang pretty much rules the world, perched on top of their choppers, riding into the sunset. It is every living biker’s dream come true. There have been very less successful motorbike games, over the last few years. Usually the motorbikes play a small part in an otherwise automobile oriented arcade type racing games. Hence the target audience of motorbike lovers is always left disappointed. The only motorbike game which came close to being a success, is the dedicated motorbike game called Moto Grand Prix series. Rest all went out without a fizz. Motorbike lovers have been time and again been disappointed with bad graphics, unrealistic environments, and sorry excuses of otherwise much acclaimed bikes. If you take a look at the automobiles in any racing game, then you have it all, Lamborghinis, mustangs, mercs, and hummers. But when it comes to bikes, the options are limited. So after a string of disappointments, most motorbike game lovers are highly skeptical about any motorbike game. Some of the best motorbike game developers include Miniclip and Addicting Games, which are the proud creators of ‘Bike Mania on Ice’, one of the most popular bike game titles in the internet.

Maybe the reason why it is so difficult to create a good motorcycle game, is because controlling a real motorcycle involves a lot of body movements. Without the simulation like setup of some arcade machines, this effect is very hard to achieve. Even with good environments, the game falls short of being realistic. A joystick or a gamepad does not really have the edge necessary to enjoy a motorbike game. Very few people have the room or the money for a fully equipped arcade machine. This means that if the basic game play is only about riding, then people will loose interest very soon.

Once the initial curiosity is satisfied, people usually move on. However, Ride to Hell can be more successful than its predecessors, provided there is going to be a multiplayer and PVP feature. If Ride to Hell proves to be a maverick biker gang with your pals and hammer other biker gangs to the ground, while you gather resources to pay for new swanky bikes and weapon upgrades. If all this and some more added kicks are included in this motorbike game, then it might have the potential to cut it in the market. Or else it will go down in the pages of gaming history just as its predecessors did.

Motorcycle fans all over the nation look forward to the summer and the pending motorcycle rallies. The brotherhood, fun, and connection found at these rallies are incomparable to anything else in life.

One of these rallies is the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days which is held in central Ohio during July. This rally centers on the glorious history of motorcycles that accented by various brands and models.

Whether you are a fan of the Knucklehead EL 74 from 1947, a utilitarian Norton Commando with 750cc from 1968, or the Honda CR125 Elsinore it will be found at this rally.

Yearly, tens of thousands of people travel to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum to see thousands of independent vendors and these old relics. The 2010 rally will be the 19th anniversary of AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.

During the events tens of thousands of people pack into the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for special races and presentations. In 2009, the BSA was the Marque of the Year with AMA racing legend Don Emde as the Grand Marshal.

In 2010 rally, Husqvarna has been asked to be the Marque of the Year. Husqvarna is the model that dominated off-road racing throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Recently, this brand has returned to the national spotlight as a contender for this position again. As part of the celebrations, there will be a special history section focusing on the Husqvarna.

The Husqvarna began in Sweden in the early 1900s and has evolved to the fantastic racing machine it is today. Motorcycle fans did not realize Husqvarna’s potential until the 1960s, even though Husqvarna had been sold since 1903.

Husqvarna started out using FN and Moto-Reve motors. It was not until 1920 that Husqvarna began to construct its personal engine.

The motor that it developed was a 550cc four-stroke 50 degree side-valve V-twin. When the Svarkvarna was built in 1946 it grew in reputation until it defined the Husqvarna marque.

The Svarkvarna was known for its lightweight, reliable two-stroke that used comparatively very little maintenance. This two-stroke method was still unknown in the United States.

Until the Husqvarna took over, the Harley-Davidsons, Triumphs, and BSAs were are used for back-wood, street, and desert racing.

At this time, Edison Dye took his famous tour across the United States. Many historians believe that motocross caught on in the United States only after Edison Dye toured the country with European celebrities.

Edison Dye is one of the many people featured in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. A few years later, Dye gave a Husqvarna motocross bike to American Malcolm Smith for testing.

Malcolm Smith approved of the bike, which encouraged Dye to begin importing the bikes to America. To help sell the bikes Dye came up with some creative ideas.

He arranged for the Swedish world motocross champion, Torsten Hallman, to make visits to the United States. Torsten Hallman is also found in the Hall of Fame.

This method was very successful in promoting the Husqvarna motorcycles and in promoting a new motorcycle racing style. The focus on the Husqvarna and Edison Dye is well deserved in the history of motorcycle racing.

In addition to this focus, there will be a variety of brands and designs represented in the races and competitions. The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association has more than 1,200 members that will compete in the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.

The competitions will occur in Lexington near the Ashland County Fairgrounds in Ashland, Ohio. One of the most famous competitions is the Classic Motorcycle/Metro Racing Dirt Track Series.

Another competition includes the Speed and Sport that will take place in the woods near the Mid-Ohio grounds. This competition will be closely followed by the Pro-Flo/Progressive Suspension Historic Cup Series that will take place on a road course.

Road racing will continue throughout the rest of the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days accompanied by many other activities and showcases.

One of the most important tasks that you must complete before taking any motorcycle trip is to perform a pre trip scan of your bike to make sure it is ready for the road. Doing so will help ensure your safety and help to prevent any major malfunctions while you are out on the road. There are a number of different items that you can check on your motorcycle before going on your next motorcycle trip.

One of the first things you should check on your motorcycle before any ride is your tires. A tire pressure check should always be done before any ride and is a good way to ensure that your tires are safe for travel. You should also check all fluid levels to make sure that your motorcycle is properly fueled, oiled, greased, and has enough coolant if this is relevant. Improper fluid levels could lead to engine troubles while out on the road so be sure to check your oil levels, coolant levels, brake fluid levels, and of course, always make sure you have enough gas.

These are just a few safety checkpoints that you should be sure and review every time you go to take a ride on your motorcycle. Doing so will help ensure that your bike is safe and that you will not have any major malfunctions while out on the road.

Riding a motorcycle can be exciting as well as dangerous. Even with proper training and protective gear, bikers share the road with many hazards. Be sure to wear one of the most important safety devices available on the market today – a DOT approved motorcycle helmet.

Not all states dictate that motorcyclists wear helmets, but, since 1980, the United States Department of Transportation has required all motorcycle helmets on the road be DOT approved helmets. The DOT logo must be displayed on the back of the helmet.

Because head injuries make up for the majority of motorcycle fatalities, it is important to select a DOT approved helmet that is well constructed. The outer shell should be made of a strong material, such as a polycarbonate or other thermoplastic or fiber-reinforced composite.

The helmet liner should be constructed of an impact-absorbing material, such as polystyrene. This will absorb the shock of impact while protecting your head. Also inside the helmet is the comfort lining, which helps to offer the rider a comfortable fit.

A chin strap serves as a helmet retention system, keeping the DOT approved helmet in place. Always tighten your chin strap before riding.

The Snell Memorial Foundation is also an organization that tests and rates helmets, and has been doing so since 1957. The Snell certification is often maintains more rigid and stricter guidelines than DOT approved helmets. In addition to motorcycle helmets, Snell also tests the safety bicycle, snowboarding and other helmets.

Hopefully, a DOT approved motorcycle helmet will never be necessary, but, like a seatbelt, this device is there to protect the rider from serious injury or even death. If you ride in a state that does not require a motorcycle helmet, consider wearing one.

A cop stops a Harley for traveling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name.
‘Fred,’ he replies.
‘Fred what?’ the officer asks.
‘Just Fred,’ the man responds.
The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name. The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it.
The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it.
‘Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?
The biker replies, ‘It’s a long story, so stay with me.  I was born Fred Dingaling.  I know – a funny last name. The kids used to tease me all the time, so I stayed to myself, studied hard and got good grades.  When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor.. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Dingaling, M.D.

After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school.  Dentistry was my dream!  Got all the way through school, got my degree, so then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS.  Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD.  When the ADA found out about the VD, they took away my DDS, the AMA took away my MD, and the VD took away my Dingaling, so now I am just Fred.’
The officer walked away in tears, laughing.
